In-Person Commencement

More than a ceremony, commencement is an important milestone in the lives of our Knights and the loved ones who have supported them throughout their educational journey.

When is In-Person Commencement?

The University of Central Florida In-Person Commencement Ceremony for Summer 2021 will take place on Saturday, August 7, 2021. These commencement ceremonies will take place in the Addition Financial Arena.

You can view Frequently Asked Questions and more information about the Summer 2021 In-Person Commencement Ceremony as it becomes available at the Summer Graduation Celebration page.

Do I need official UCF regalia?

Official UCF regalia is required for graduates and can be ordered from Herff Jones.

Graduating students who plan to attend the In-Person Commencement ceremony must order regalia before the deadline of July 2, to avoid expedited shipping fees. Electronic Commencement guest tickets will only be distributed to graduates that place a regalia order.

How do I get my five (5) electronic Commencement guest tickets?

In-Person Commencement tickets will be distributed the week of Commencement to students who have ordered regalia and RSVP’d to participate.

Each guest entering the arena, which includes children and infants, is required to have an electronic Commencement ticket for the ceremony. You will receive an email to your Knights email account on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, with more information on how to reserve your five (5) electronic Commencement tickets. Family and friends who are unable to attend can view the live-streamed ceremony online. You can find the Commencement Program here.

In-Person Commencement Ticket RSVP Deadline: Friday, July 23, 2021, by 5 p.m. EDT

Grad Walk FAQ

What is Grad Walk?

Grad Walk is a more intimate graduation experience for the students graduating in Summer 2021. Graduates must register for a 15-minute time slot from the link that will be sent to their Knights email at the end of June. At the event, they will walk across the stage, hear their name be called and soak up the cheers of up to eight guests. Guest will stay with the graduates the entirety of the time as it is a continuously moving event.

An official UCF photographer will be there to provide graduation photos — both individual and group photos — for the graduates. The entire Grad Walk experience will be under one hour and does not include a formal program, commencement speaker or guests on the platform. This event is an optional experience. Click here to view a video from a past Grad Walk.

When and how can I sign up for Grad Walk?

As long as you filled out your Intent to Graduate form, you are eligible. We will have your Knight email address, and you will receive a link to select your time slot on June 29. The deadline to RSVP for Grad Walk is Friday, July 23, 2021, by 5 p.m. EDT.

RSVP Link for Grad Walk: Please read all the important information on the sign-up page before selecting a time slot.

Note: You MUST select a time slot to participate. There will be no walk-ups allowed.

How many guests can I bring?

You may bring up to eight (8) guests. No tickets are needed, as we will verify guest counts at the door. You and your guests will stay together during the entire experience.

Note: This is different from Commencement, where you will only be allowed up to five guests with you and each guest will be required to have their own ticket. For both events, children and infants count as a guest.

Can I be hooded on stage as a doctoral graduate?

Yes, you may bring your advisor to hood you on stage. For more information, please email us at

Is academic regalia required?

Unlike Commencement where it is required, academic regalia is not required to participate in Grad Walk; however, you may still wear it if you choose to do so.
